Saina Nehwal suffered a shock 16-21, 23-21, 4-21 defeat against Wang Zhiyi of China on Wednesday to bow out of the New Zealand Open in the first round. The 29-year-old Olympic bronze medallist lost to the world no. 212 in a battle that lasted an hour and seven minutes.
